I decided tonight to cut together some highlights from the all Japan Kendo championships final and some old footage of a great modern day sword master Haga Junichi. His sword work, foot and body positioning is just exquisite. Sensei To all students. Grading time is approaching and i will be watching to see who is ready. our school is one of high standard and i will not just give grades away, they will be earned. If i feel you are ready to grade i will let you know in class. i would like each student to know that a grading is an honour not a right and you must prove your worth before you get to grade. I know you can show me your best, so aim to do so. Kind Regards Sensei.
HI all i will be appearing at SUPANOVA FESTIVAL in Melbourne and Gold Coast to share some behind the scenes views on our upcoming Mad Max Fury Road Film and how i trained the actors for the fighting and gunfighting scenes. We will also be showing some never before seen footage of the film.

Notes on karate technique-
Both the concepts of centre of gravity and hara are essential for the karate-do practitioner to develop koshi, that is “putting in the hip” The ability of the karate-do practitioner to apply distinguishes between a novice and experienced karate-do exponent The development of karate-do stance is interwoven and intimate with the practitioner’s ability to maintain balance. There are fundament requirements of a stance ; (i) they must provide sufficient balance for the application of offensive and defensive technique (ii) they must allow for a smooth rotation of hips in the application of technique (iii) they must allow for they application of either offensive or defensive techniques with the greatest possible speed (iv) they must allow for the muscles involve to switch instantly from defensive to offensive and if necessarily simultaneously support defensive and offensive techniques. |
